Stokes Market Place
In 1925 Henry H. Stokes started a grocery business in Preston, Idaho opening the
first O.P. Skaggs store here. Later in 1937 Mr. Stokes opened two O.P. Skaggs stores
in Twin Falls, Idaho. Henry’s son Eldon Stokes continued the grocery business with
stores in Twin Falls, Idaho and later opened the first store under the Stokes banner
in Burley, Idaho.
Over the years The Stokes family and associates have operated stores in Burley,
Jerome, Pocatello, Idaho Falls, Boise, and Preston, Idaho.
After the passing of Eldon Stokes and later his son John Stokes the family sold
the Boise Idaho Location and the Burley and Preston, Idaho stores were separated
in ownership.
The Preston store with local ownership and management has been very successful in
providing groceries, community service and employment for Franklin County residents.
Stokes Market Place presently employees over 120 people of whom we consider our greatest asset.
